Dazu gehören neben den Rimas - einer Sammlung von seventy six postromantischen Gedichten, meist Liebeslyrik, aber auch versehen mit anderen Themen, wie Dichter, concept, Einsamkeit, Melancholie - vor allem die Leyendas en prosa - spukhaft-romantische Prosalegenden. Einige davon wurden zwischen dem 7.November 1861 und dem 17.April 1862 bereits einzeln und in Teilen in dem magazine "El Contemporaneo", deren Redakteur Bécquer selbst struggle, unter der Rubrik Vermischtes veröffentlicht. Creed en Dios erschien am 23., 25. und 27. Februar 1862 wie alle anderen in diesem Blatt erschienenen Leyendas anonym. Sie ist eine der letzten in diesem Zeitraum in der Zeitschrift erschienenen Geschichten des Autors.
Bécquers Leyenda Creed en Dios soll hier als Beispiel analysiert werden, um darzulegen, dass die vielen verschiedenen Erzählungen nicht nur einfache, schaurige Märchen sind, sondern komplexe Geschichten mit legendenhaften Zügen. Es soll aufgezeigt werden, dass der Autor die romantischen Themen, die zu seiner Zeit bereits altmodisch zu werden begannen, vor allem dank seiner besonderen Erzähltechnik, aber auch mit Hilfe der Komposition und Sprache der Erzählung, wiederbelebt hat. Um eine einheitliche Orientierung der Begrifflichkeiten zu besitzen, geht der examine am textual content eine allgemeine Definition der Grundgedanken nach Tzvetan Todorov voran. Abschließend erfolgt eine Gesamtbetrachtung, in dem die Ergebnisse der einzelnen Abschnitte zusammengetragen und ihr gemeinsames Wirken in Creed en Dios dargelegt werden soll.
